Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the coordination of, provide on-site support for, and promote Ministry & Chapel (faith-based) programming and upkeep. In line with Barry University’s mission as a Catholic, Adrian Dominican institution and within student engagement, this position supports the formation and development of the Barry community through faith-based ministry programming.
This role requires knowledge of, and enthusiasm for ministry, reflection, and faith. This position will also work on Sundays during the academic year.
Essential Functions
Coordinate university liturgical celebrations
Recruit and organize (train/schedule) liturgical contributors for all liturgies, including musicians, sacristans, lectors, and hospitality, maintain communication with contributors for logistics, scheduling, and implementation (all Sunday Masses/University Masses during the school year)
Oversee the maintenance of chapel inventory/equipment, including the music and choir library, sacristy materials, seasonal decorations, and others, with the assistance of staff and external support
Facilitate all post-liturgy hospitality programs, including procurement, promotion, and preparation
Support the preparation, planning, and implementation of liturgical seasons on-campus (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter programming)
Prepares liturgy worship aids with the assistance of the Marketing department.
Foster student and faculty engagement in faith-based programming
Promote and present faith-based programming to students at various on-campus engagements, liaise with student clubs and other campus organizations for outreach
Maintains MCO bulletin boards throughout the University and oversees the Interfaith Room
Foster student spiritual reflection through regular interaction and ministry to students
Maintain regular office hours with a frequent presence in the Ministry & Community Outreach offices
Provide support to the Ministry’s Interfaith Committee and programs.
Administrative responsibilities across the department:
Manage room reservations for faith-based programming
Oversee recurring promotional spaces, including This Week @ Barry, Corq/Engage, Campus ESP, etc…
Oversee the departmental email accounts and memberships/subscriptions.
Qualifications/Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline. A Bachelor's of Arts in Theology is preferred.
Must be available to work on Sundays during the academic year
Basic skills using MS Office suite
Good communication skills, verbal and in writing
