The EHS Intern will support projects and assignments within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) discipline. These tasks are designed to enhance academic knowledge through practical application, providing a meaningful and effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities :
- Apply classroom principles to real-world situations to improve EH&S programs, practices, and reporting.
- Participate in regular departmental safety meetings.
- Manage daily activities within the Benchmark Gensuite EHS digital platform, including addressing safety and environmental concerns and documenting compliance requirements.
- Review and analyze PPE requirements across departments and related processes.
- Conduct or review job risk analyses for various tasks and processes.
- Collaborate with hourly workforce to resolve day-to-day safety concerns.
- Learn and assist with environmental and sustainability compliance requirements.
- Support departments in managing hazardous materials and waste stream processes.
- Assist in reviewing and refining fire and chemical emergency response procedures.
- Review and update OSHA-required training programs.
- Learn to conduct new hire safety training and orientation.
- Identify and improve material handling practices throughout the facility.
- Investigate facility accidents and injuries to develop corrective actions.
- Assist in implementing periodic inspections for hazardous waste, PPE use, machine guarding, and other safety measures.
- Coordinate with vendors and consultants on EH&S initiatives.
- Recommend process improvements for EH&S-related projects.
- Attend training sessions and other educational opportunities.
- Take ownership of assigned EH&S projects on the manufacturing floor.
- Participate in project teams to analyze improvements, new product applications, and ensure compliance with EH&S regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Knowledge of EH&S engineering practices, industrial hygiene sampling, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC).Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.Education and Experience :
