Material Handler
Location : Pembroke Park, FL
Schedule : Monday – Friday | 7 : 00 a.m. – 3 : 30 p.m.
Pay Rate : $19.00 per hour
Job Purpose
The Material Handler is responsible for accurately and safely pulling, handling, and staging materials according to work orders. This role ensures materials are properly organized, inventoried, and delivered to support production operations while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily operational and safety inspections on material handling equipment, including batteries, brakes, horns, lift controls, and other safety devices.
Complete required documentation and obtain supervisory approval before operating equipment.
Immediately report malfunctioning equipment to the Facilities Service Coordinator and remove unsafe equipment from service until repairs are completed.
Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Review and follow work orders provided by the Line Leader or Scheduler.
Consolidate open boxes and storage locations when possible to maximize space and efficiency.
Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures to ensure proper material rotation.
Ensure all boxes and bags are properly labeled and assigned a location before delivering materials to production (PRO).
Load and unload materials to and from pallets, racks, and shelves manually.
Use computerized or automated inventory systems to track materials and complete inventory transactions.
Comply with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies, including forklift safety guidelines.
Return forklift equipment to the charging station daily for overnight charging.
Follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Basic math skills.
Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
Successful completion of in-house forklift training and demonstration of safe operation during a road test.
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness to prevent injuries to self and others.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate a forklift at heights of up to 30 feet.
Ability to perform physical activities requiring frequent use of arms and legs, including lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
