Position Overview

Santa Fe South Charter Schools is seeking a passionate, student-centered Elementary Music Teacher to join our team. This educator will inspire a love of music, build foundational musicianship skills, and create a joyful classroom where every student feels valued and capable. The ideal candidate combines musical expertise with a commitment to building relationships and contributing to a vibrant school community.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Learning

• Independently design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned music lessons for elementary students (Grades 2–5) based on the Oklahoma Academic Standards.

• Incorporate singing, movement, instruments, listening, musical literacy, and creative expression.

• Differentiate instruction for English learners and students with diverse learning needs and musical backgrounds.

Classroom Culture & Student Support

• Establish a warm, structured, and joyful classroom environment grounded in consistent routines, respect, and high expectations.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with students and encourage confidence in performance and creativity.

• Support schoolwide academic outcomes by participating in intervention blocks or small-group instruction as needed.

Program & Community Engagement

• Plan and facilitate school performances, concerts, or arts-based community events.

• Maintain classroom instruments, supplies, and organizational systems.

• Communicate with families about student learning and performance opportunities.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

• Collaborate with campus teams and administrators to support schoolwide culture and learning goals.

• Participate in professional development opportunities, with coaching tailored to the unique needs of specials/resource teachers.

• Contribute to cross-grade or cross-content arts enrichment as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Strong musical background (instrumental, vocal, or both)

• Commitment to the mission and values of Santa Fe South Charter Schools

Preferred:

• Oklahoma Teaching Certification (Music or Elementary) or willingness to pursue certification
