Position Overview
The CMM Programmer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programs to support dimensional validation of stamped and welded automotive components. This role ensures that all measurement activities meet customer, OEM, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate has strong proficiency in CMM programming software, GD&T interpretation, and dimensional analysis within a high-volume Tier 1 automotive environment.
Key Responsibilities
CMM Programming & Operation
- Create, edit, and optimize CMM programs for new and existing parts using industry-standard software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, Verisurf, or similar).
- Perform dimensional inspections using CMM, portable CMM arms, and other metrology equipment.
- Validate part conformance to engineering drawings and customer specifications, including complex GD&T requirements.
- Maintain organized records of inspections, reports, and program documentation.
Dimensional Analysis & Reporting
Conduct measurement system analysis (MSA), capability studies, and statistical evaluations (CPk, PPk).Generate clear and accurate dimensional reports for internal teams and customers.Support PPAP submissions, APQP activities, and new product launches with required dimensional data.Quality & Compliance
Ensure alignment with customer engineering standards, OEM requirements, and IATF / ISO quality systems.Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for dimensional or tooling-related issues.Provide technical insights during part design reviews, tooling buy-offs, and process troubleshooting.Equipment & Continuous Improvement
Maintain and calibrate CMMs and associated metrology equipment.Identify opportunities to improve measurement efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.Support implementation of new metrology technologies and automation enhancements.Cross-Functional Support
Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Tooling, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.Provide training to technicians and operators on measurement techniques and inspection standards.Required
2+ years of experience as a CMM Programmer in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.Proficiency with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, Zeiss, or comparable systems.Strong understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.Experience interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications.Knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, and related automotive quality processes.Preferred
Experience with metal stamping or welded assemblies in a Tier 1 automotive environment.Familiarity with portable metrology tools (FARO arm, laser scanning, etc.).Background in MSA, SPC, and dimensional root cause analysis tools.Associate’s degree or higher in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or related field.Full-time, on-site position in Tulsa, OK.Salary TBD based on experience; relocation support available if needed.Competitive benefits package offered.
