Surgical Pathologist

Henry Ford Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks to fill a community hospital senior staff position with a board-certified anatomic pathologist at its largest community hospital, in Jackson, Michigan. largest employed multispecialty group practice.

Jackson is a 475-bed acute-care hospital serving central Michigan offering comprehensive services with 24-hour Level II trauma care. The hospital has 400 employed physicians and 3700 staff. The anatomic volume at Jackson is 17,000 cases. The dominant case types are gastrointestinal, gyn and breast pathology. Jackson will be staffed by 4 pathologists, supported by 47 pathology subspecialists at the Core Laboratories in Detroit. These groups engage in daily consensus conferences for quality, accuracy, and standardization. Hematopathology, pulmonary pathology and autopsy are centralized to Detroit.

Henry Ford Pathology is an integrated system laboratory department; both subspecialized, and community based. It is recognized as the world's leading Lean managed laboratory and the only ISO 15189 accredited laboratory in Michigan, overseeing services at 6 hospitals, 38 clinic delivery sites, and an outreach program. The system laboratories employ over 800 technical staff, and process annual case volumes of 40 million clinical laboratory tests, over 200,000 surgical pathology specimens, 80,000 cytopathology cases and 50,000 molecular and cytogenetic tests.

Faculty may qualify for academic appointments at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Pathology at Henry Ford Hospital supports an AP / CP residency and fellowships in Medical Genetics and Informatics.

Qualifications :

Henry Ford Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a board-certified surgical pathologist with subspecialty expertise in any of the following areas : Gastrointestinal / Liver, Breast, Genitourinary, Bone and Soft Tissue, Cytopathology.

In our subspecialty model, the position may cover one or more surgical pathology subspecialties. The successful candidate will be accomplished in diagnostics, education, and clinical investigation. Academic appointment is in Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. This position reports to the Vice-Chair for Anatomic Pathology.
