Position Overview
This role is designed to enhance nursing cognitive skills and competencies within assigned clinical areas. The Advanced Clinical Educator collaborates closely with management teams to optimize patient outcomes and clinical practices. Serving as an educator, leader, expert practitioner, mentor, and consultant, this position supports nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams with a focus on continuous improvement and excellence in care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to unit-based safety and infection control protocols.
- Deliver clinical education and training to nursing staff.
- Coordinate orientation programs for new hires and ongoing staff development initiatives.
- Act as a mentor, expert practitioner, and consultant for nursing and other clinical disciplines.
- Participate actively in committees and task forces representing clinical areas.
- Promote evidence-based practices within the clinical setting.
- Ensure completion and compliance of all staff competencies.
- Attend leadership meetings and complete assigned tasks promptly.
- Foster patient, physician, and staff satisfaction through supportive leadership.
- Monitor and promote safety, infection control, and performance standards in clinical areas.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience.Preferred : Two years in a teaching or educational role.Competencies
Technical Skills : Proficient with computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and adaptable to new software; skilled in operating relevant clinical equipment.Critical Thinking : Ability to make rapid decisions in high-pressure situations and prioritize tasks effectively.Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required (effective for new hires or transfers starting July 1, 2025).Master's degree in a related field is preferred.Licenses and Certifications
Current Registered Nurse license in California is required.Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider, applicable to various clinical areas including ED, ICU, Telemetry, PCU, Surgical Services, and Procedural Areas.Additional certifications such as NVCI, PALS, NIH SS, ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, and specialty-specific certifications (e.g., CCRN, PCCN, ONC, CMSRN, CEN, CNOR, RCIS, CRN) are required or to be obtained within one year of hire depending on the clinical area.All candidates must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
