Controls Engineer

Position Overview

The Controls Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and continuous improvement of our automated production systems. This position is focused on maintaining and optimizing PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems that support high-volume manufacturing. This role will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and drive long-term system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support machine breakdowns when advanced troubleshooting is required.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, launch teams, and IT.
• Develop and upgrade vision systems to high performance standards.
• Improve data flow, reporting tools, and machine communication systems.
• Program and update Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
• Make programming adjustments based on design or process changes.
• Work with robotic platforms (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka).
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and partner with OEMs.
• Support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Respond quickly to equipment issues and maintain production readiness.
• Assist with plastic welding operations when needed.
