We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for our MEP team. Candidates should have experience in HVAC and Plumbing Systems and Fire Protection Systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Develop design and technical solutions through all phases of a mechanical, plumbing and fire protections system upgrade project, from feasibility to construction documentations.
- Survey and perform detail visual observations of existing building systems.
- Prepare scopes of work and preliminary budget pricing per project requirements.
- Determine HVAC load, specs, sizing equipment, ductwork, and piping
- Develop a design set of engineering plans for bid solicitation, construction and Department of Building filing.
- Coordinate, oversee and review draft documents sets prepared by junior staff and draftspersons.
- Administer MEP upgrade construction projects, from commencement, to weekly progress reviews, punch-list, and sign-off.
- Conduct site visits during the construction phase. NYC Special Inspection and Progress Inspection experience is preferred but not required. Travel to and from job sites generally located within the NYC Metro area from RAND’s office.
- Interact with clients, contractors, and vendors. Attend client meetings virtually or in-person upon request.
- Prepare written reports and studies of mechanical and plumbing systems on topics such as performance evaluation and feasibility studies.
Job Requirements:- New York State PE license preferred - EIT a must
- 5+ years of experience in residential and commercial projects, particularly multi-family buildings in the NYC Metro area.
- Strong mechanical, plumbing and fire protection design experience and technical knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to produce a project from programming through design and construction administration, in a team environment
- Experience with construction administration of projects, including shop drawings review, site visits and reports. NYC Special Inspection and Progress Inspection experience is preferred but not required.
