Description :
This position performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging, including a variety of procedures, both invasive and non-invasive.
Procedures range from biopsies and routine OB / GYN to vascular venous and arterial imaging, abdomen, small body parts, intra-cavity, and color Doppler.
The technologist must have strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to problem-solve.
Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and comfort of patients while they are in the technologist's care.
Effective communication skills are necessary to instruct patients who may be under physical or emotional stress.
The technologist will need to comprehend and follow physicians' verbal orders and imaging protocols.
Working productively in a complex environment of inpatient, emergency department, and outpatient circumstances is essential.
The ability to multitask with changing priorities is required.
The ultrasound technologist will be responsible for obtaining information such as patient identity, history, and reviewing medical records for exam appropriateness and documentation accuracy.
Maintaining a high standard of medical ethics is important.
Self-motivation to pursue lifelong learning to increase knowledge of the field, diseases, and evolving procedures is expected.
Excellent customer service is a key component of the role.
Responsibilities include producing quality images by selecting appropriate technical factors, equipment, and transducer settings.
Verifying patient orders and reviewing their appropriateness for exams are necessary tasks.
Obtaining patient history, explaining standard procedures, and addressing patient concerns help foster comfort and confidence.
The technologist must determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes and use independent judgment during exams.
The independent operation of sonographic equipment and communication of findings during diagnostic examinations is required.
Daily operations of the department, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment are also responsibilities.
Maintaining a clean work environment and adequate supplies is essential.
Responsible sterilization techniques, along with accurate documentation of logs, charts, forms, and records in paper and electronic formats, are expected.
Compliance with regulatory laws, standards, and protocols is necessary.
