Maintenance Assistant

The City of Morgan Hill and the Maintenance Team are looking to hire multiple individuals to join our team. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for general maintenance and custodial tasks at our Parks, Downtown, and City Facilities. This position may rotate work locations and is an excellent opportunity to learn and gain valuable maintenance experience.

Position requires availability of 12 - 20 hours per week. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours; including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The schedule will be set with the supervisor. The pay range for this position is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. This is a part-time, year-round (temporary, non-benefited) position.

Applications will be screened and those applicants determined to have the best experience, skills, and qualifications will be invited for an oral interview. Prior to appointment, applicant must authorize a reference check. Also prior to appointment, a background check must be completed, which involves fingerprinting for submission to the Department of Justice.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Perform park cleanings which includes litter control, restroom clean up, tree trimming, and clearing brush
• Perform minor repairs such as painting, plumbing, wall patching, spot stain removal, and others.
• Use a variety of equipment including pressure washers, scrubbers, man lift, power tools, pool vacuums, and other maintenance equipment
• Report safety or major maintenance issues to supervisor for follow-up.
• Tests pool chemicals
• Perform custodial tasks including : vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning windows, emptying trash, cleaning and supplying restrooms.
• May assist with event tasks including : moving and arranging tables and chairs, setting up AV equipment, and other items as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned
