HotFoot Recruiters is excited to partner with a lifestyle apparel company to hire a Controller to lead and strengthen the organization's accounting and financial operations. This role is critical to driving financial performance, stabilizing processes, developing the accounting team, and establishing strong controls and KPIs to support long-term growth.

Salary Range : $140,000-$160,000 DOE
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, general ledger, asset, liability, and lease accounting.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking, including development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Establish, enforce, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Monitor cash flow, budget variances, and gross margin performance; prepare and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports to leadership.
- Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, inventory valuation, inventory roll-forward, and financial reconciliations.
- Analyze cost accounting data, inventory, margins, and profitability to identify risks, savings opportunities, and operational improvements.
- Provide monthly revenue forecasts and detailed variance analysis versus actuals.
- Maintain internal controls documentation and support audits, testing, and compliance activities.
- Manage compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Serve as a key liaison with external partners, including CPA firms, auditors, vendors, and service providers.
- Partner closely with the Director of Finance to ensure continuity during transition and ongoing operations.
- Develop, mentor, and lead the accounting team, ensuring role clarity, cross-training, and professional growth.
- Conduct gap analyses, stabilize processes, remove inefficiencies, and drive continuous improvement across accounting operations.
- Support strategic planning and long-term financial readiness for future growth initiatives.
Qualifications
8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.Experience developing and managing KPIs, internal controls, and accounting procedures.Experience working with external auditors and CPA firms.Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial analysis.Proven experience overseeing full-cycle accounting operations and month-end close.Ability to lead teams through transition, change, and process improvement.Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, margin analysis, and operational finance.Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with executives and cross-functional teams.High level of integrity, attention to detail, and sound business judgment.
