This is a structured, hands-on path into a high-demand career where you can build skills, earn a paycheck, and set yourself up for long-term success in the trades.

Position Overview

As an Apprentice HVAC Technician, you’ll be enrolled in a 4-year program that blends classroom learning with real job-site experience. You’ll work alongside licensed professionals on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems while attending classes at Hawkeye Community College. By the end of the program, you’ll have the skills and credentials to become a licensed journeyman HVAC technician.

What You’ll Be Doing

Assisting licensed HVAC technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems

Learning how to troubleshoot and solve HVAC system issues

Following safety procedures and industry codes

Attending scheduled classes at Hawkeye Community College

Progressing each year with greater responsibilities and technical skills

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED (or working toward completion)

Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Interest in a long-term skilled trade career in HVAC

Reliable transportation to work sites and classes

Positive attitude, problem-solving mindset, and reliability
