Description of Job Function 1. Monitors financial transactions recorded in the accounting records to ensure integrity of financial data. Description of Job Function 2. Coordinates and schedules financial activities for the fiscal year to ensure financial reports are submitted on a timely basis to meet college and external agency deadlines. Description of Job Function 3. Prepares, analyzes, and evaluates financial reports to monitor financial status and identify any unusual fiscal anomalies. Description of Job Function 4. Completes financial reports as required by the Florida Auditor General and other external agencies. Description of Job Function 5. Reviews all financial reports for accuracy, consistency, and validity before submitting to college and agency users. Description of Job Function 6. Ensures college fiscal policies and procedures are compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations, and enforces these policies and procedures. Description of Job Function 7. Reviews financial related audit trails, internal controls, and other mechanisms consist with the principles of sound financial management. Plans and directs the design and implementation of improved financial procedures based on review. Description of Job Function 8. Verifies compliance with state, federal, and local agency fiscal requirements. Description of Job Function 9. Supervises assigned departmental staff; establish schedules and assigned tasks; monitors and evaluates staff performance. Description of Job Function 10. Serves as an informational resource to other college departments by providing financial technical and advisory assistance. Description of Job Function 11. Directs the college cash management program and recommends investment strategies. Description of Job Function 12. Represents the Assistant Vice President, Financial Services as needed. Description of Job Function 13. This is a position of special trust and requires the individual hired to successfully undergo an extensive criminal background check including finger printing. Qualifications
Drivers License Requirement Drivers License Requirement Not Applicable Required Qualifications Required Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Required Field of Study Accounting, finance, or related business field. Other Required Qualifications Supervisory experience. Required License/Certification Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education & Field of Study Masters of Business Administration from a regionally accredited institution. Preferred Type of Experience Progressively responsible experience in educational or similar business office environment.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel) and other accounting related software, and other standard office equipment including the Internet. Preferred Licenses/Certification Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or related professional certification. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting, and working knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements.
Ability to collect, organize, synthesize, analyze and present information in a meaningful way.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to handle multiple priorities, follow complex directions, and take initiative independently.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with college staff and external partners.
Ability to develop and produce complete work products by established deadline.

Working Conditions General Working Conditions This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; type/keyboard; and talk or hear. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning, and exchanging information.
