Will rotate between East Boston and South Boston sites.

The Optician is responsible for the daily operations of the dispensary, assisting customers / patients aged 2 – 100 in their selection and fitting of frames. He / she is also responsible for making glasses, controlling inventory and equipment, and grinding and dispensing eyeglasses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Assist patients with the selection and fitting of frames.
• Accurately records and tracks all orders in MVE.
• Accurately cut the lens with minimal waste and assemble the glasses.
• Fits and adjusts frames. Performs a full range of repairs as needed.
• Inspects all eyewear prior to sending to the Dispensary.
• Maintains an appropriate level of supplies for the Eye Lab and Dispensary.
• Keeps the Director informed of price changes by suppliers.
• Assists with annual review of pricing structure.
• Maintains the Eye Lab equipment.
• Keeps the Dispensary and work areas neat and stocked with a variety of frame designs.
• Ensures timely turnaround of eyeglass orders.
• Interacts with patients and other staff professionally and respectfully, which reflects the needs and concerns of the individual.
