Job Description:
The at The University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to teach in the BA track and MFA program in the field of creative writing, fiction specialization, effective August , 6. The normal teaching assignment is two courses per semester.
The successful candidate will be expected to 1) maintain an active writing and publication career, 2) teach four courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level, and mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, 3) contribute service to the Department, the university, and the profession. Department service includes help with MFA program coordination (e.g. events planning, admissions, student mentoring, curriculum oversight) and engagement with Departmental committees and processes.

UF is a major, comprehensive, land-grant, research university. The MFA program within the Department of English is housed in UF’s largest college, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We are one of the country’s oldest writing programs, begun in 9 and with a long list of distinguished writers who have been faculty or students. Required Qualifications:Candidates for this rank shall hold the highest degree appropriate to their field or possess equivalent qualifications based on professional experience. A book or substantial record of literary works is required.
Preferred: An MFA and/or PhD in Creative Writing is strongly preferred. We encourage applications from candidates who write in genres in addition to literary fiction, such as creative nonfiction, screenplays, YA fiction and/or children’s literature, and graphic literature.
