Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Manager, Sterile Processing Operations, responsible for planning, organizing, and managing activities to meet the sterile instrument and surgical equipment processing needs of our facility and other areas as directed. Under the general guidance of the Regional Director, this role ensures that our operational performance and quality goals are achieved.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : A Bachelor's degree in Health Science or a related field is preferred, or five (5) years of equivalent experience.
Licenses / Certifications :
- Must hold or obtain three (3) certifications from the following credentialing organizations within 18 months of employment :
- Technical certification
- Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician Certification (CRCST) with IAHCSMM or
- Sterile Processing Certification with CBSPD.
- Management Training :
- Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL) with IAHCSMM or Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) with CBSPD.
- Specialty Certification :
- Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor with IAHCSMM or Surgical Technologist with NBSTSA.
- Registered Nurse and CNOR Certification is a plus.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in sterilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies or related experience in an operating room / acute hospital environment.A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.Basic knowledge of budgeting concepts.Proficiency in perioperative and materials management software programs (e.g., Care4, Surginet, point of use technology).Familiarity with Joint Commission and AAMI standards.Principal Accountabilities
Plans and directs the activities involved in acquiring, decontaminating, storing, assembling, and cleaning and sterilizing medical and surgical supplies.Manages department personnel to achieve operational and quality goals, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and personnel actions.Directs and maintains quality control parameters for sterilization processes and ensures testing is performed on cleaning / sterilization equipment.Maintains and monitors inventory levels of supplies and instruments.Follows all Memorial Hermann policies and procedures, adhering to budgetary specifications including productivity and accuracy of practice.Assists with budget preparation and ensures accountability in meeting budgetary parameters.Acts as a resource to Sterile Processing staff and internal customers.Represents the facility on the system Sterile Processing Council and other teams as needed.Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all guidelines and standards.Promotes professional growth by meeting education and competency requirements and mentoring less experienced staff.Demonstrates a commitment to caring for every community member by providing compassionate and personalized experiences.Other duties as assigned.
