Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Airport Planner to support a wide range of strategic planning and capital improvement initiatives. This is advanced professional work that contributes to the long-term growth and operational success through coordination, analysis, and planning expertise.
What You Will Do :
- Lead and support planning initiatives that shape the future development of Tallahassee International Airport.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Airport’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP), including coordination of state and federally funded projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and regulatory agencies (such as the FAA and FDOT) to advance infrastructure and planning goals.
- Participate in long-range planning studies, including master plans, noise compatibility studies, and sustainability efforts.
- Review development proposals and planning documents to ensure alignment with airport plans, policies, and aviation safety requirements.
- Support public outreach and communication efforts related to airport projects and planning initiatives.
- Analyze data, develop reports, and provide planning insights that inform budgeting, project prioritization, and future development strategies.
- Assist with evaluating land use and facility needs and help identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Represent the Airport in meetings with City officials, planning boards, or stakeholder groups as needed.
- Guide interns, consultants, or junior team members working on planning-related assignments.
- Prepare draft grant proposals for inclusion in FDOT and FAA work programs and support the development of applications for additional sources of funding to advance economic development initiatives.

Minimum Training & Experience
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in planning, an aviation-related program, civil engineering, or a closely related field and two years of professional experience that includes planning.or
Possession of a master’s degree in planning, aviation finance, transportation planning, economic planning and development, civil engineering, or a closely related field and one year of professional experience that includes planning.or
Possession of a high school diploma or GED and seven years of professional experience that includes planning.Necessary Special Requirements
In accordance with 49 CFR Part 1542, employees must successfully complete a fingerprint-based criminal history records check and personal background check prior to employment.Must possess a valid Class E state driver's license at the time of appointment.Salary Range
