Position Overview
The Staff or Senior Staff Attorney will manage a dedicated caseload of Workers’ Compensation matters while working in a fully remote environment. The role may require occasional virtual or remote appearances before the California Workers’ Compensation Boards in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Oxnard. This position involves independently developing defense strategies, handling complex legal work, and partnering closely with claims professionals.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues; conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research.
- Independently develop, recommend, and present defense strategies.
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, petitions for reconsideration, and trial briefs.
- Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for insured clients.
- Provide timely, effective communication, legal advice, and case updates to clients.
- Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
- Facilitate prompt and efficient case resolution.
- Prepare and present witnesses and evidence in trials and administrative hearings.
- Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs before reviewing courts.
Qualifications
Staff Attorney Requirements
Minimum 2 years of legal practice experience handling Workers’ Compensation cases.JD from an accredited law school and active California Bar license .Trial experience preferred but not required.Strong legal research and writing abilities.Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).LexisNexis experience preferred.Positive, collaborative, team-oriented mindset.Strong organizational skills and ability to self-manage workload.Senior Staff Attorney Requirements
