SCHOOL SECRETARY

REQUIREMENTS :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Typing and computer skills
  • Prior secretarial / clerical experience preferred

SUPERVISES : REPORTS TO :

  • ES principal

    • JOB GOALS :

  • To assist in meeting the needs of students, patrons, and staff members in a safe and orderly office.
  • To effectively apply the skills unique to the position.

    • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Implement the policies of the Board of Education.
  • Communicate appropriately with supervisors, other employees, students, and visitors.
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful environment.
  • Maintain an acceptable standard of personal appearance.
  • Perform necessary office duties inclusive of all specific tasks, e.g. daily and monthly attendance reports, daily lunch counts, bus notes, paperwork in relation to student transfers, PTO communications, recording teacher absences, work processing, answering phone, faxing, copying, scheduling appointments for the principal.
  • Maintain accurate records in the areas of students, personnel, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Receive, record, deposit, and forward records to central office all monies received.
  • Attend meetings and participate in professional conferences relating to the job.
  • Assume responsibility for tasks other than those listed which may be assigned by the building administrator or superintendent.
