We provide comprehensive operational, financial, clinical, and administrative infrastructure to help practices elevate their performance and deliver exceptional patient outcomes. Our team is growing, and we are seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Manager of Finance to join our high-performance Finance organization.
Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Finance will serve as a key business partner to the CEO / COO, CFO, and Practice Leadership Teams, acting as a primary financial liaison between the Corporate Finance function and the individual practices. This role combines elements of FP&A, operations finance, and practice-level business partnering. The ideal candidate is analytical, operationally minded, comfortable communicating with physicians, and motivated by the opportunity to drive performance improvement in a multi-site healthcare environment. This position plays a critical role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, physician compensation, and the communication of financial insights to practice owners and managers. The role also supports new initiatives, special projects, and select M&A due diligence, particularly related to provider compensation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Partnership with Practice Leaders
- Serve as the primary financial point of contact for supported practices, developing strong working relationships with physicians, practice managers, and operational leaders.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and standardized decks for each practice, including P&L analysis, labor and expense ratio dashboards, KPI trends, productivity and provider metrics, and practice-level performance insights.
- Lead monthly review meetings with doctors and practice leadership, walking through financial results, explaining variances, and educating stakeholders on cost structure, revenue drivers, and operational levers.
- Translate financial data into insights that drive operational improvements and support decision-making at both practice and executive levels.
- Support the CEO / COO by joining select practice visits, providing follow-up analytics, action items, and financial performance tracking for new initiatives.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Lead annual budget planning for practices, coordinating with operations and clinical leadership to establish achievable targets and assumptions.Develop rolling forecasts and scenario models to support strategic planning and executive decision-making.Analyze labor cost trends, expense ratios, marketing performance, and other practice-level KPIs to identify optimization opportunities.Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes, dashboards, and analyses across the MSO.Physician Compensation, Commissions & Bonuses
Own the monthly and quarterly physician compensation calculation review, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to compensation agreements.Review and validate practice-level commission structures, incentive plans, and bonus calculations for staff and providers.Partner with HR, operations, and practice managers to ensure compensation programs are consistent, accurate, and aligned with performance.Operational Finance & Strategic Initiatives
Support follow-through and execution of new initiatives launched by the CEO / COO—tracking performance, preparing analyses, and identifying improvement opportunities.Develop operational models and financial tools to support new service lines, pricing models, staffing plans, and efficiency initiatives.Contribute to revenue cycle and margin improvement projects as needed.M&A Support
Provide support in M&A activities related to physician compensation due diligence, including modeling, compensation structure analysis, and contract review.Assist with the onboarding and financial integration of newly acquired practices, helping ensure smooth transition into Ascend’s financial processes.Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.6–10+ years of experience in FP&A, operational finance, or similar analytical role.Experience in multi-site healthcare, restaurant, or retail organization.Strong financial modeling, budgeting, analysis, and presentation skills.Exceptional communication skills experience explaining financial concepts to operational leaders.Ability to travel (~15-20%) to practice locations as needed.Preferred
Experience with physician compensation models, healthcare revenue cycle metrics, and labor / expense ratio analysis.Prior experience in an MSO or PE-backed environment.Experience presenting financials to senior executives and clinical leadership.MBA, CPA, or CFA a plus.Core Competencies
