NCCT Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C)
OR-Certified Surgical Technologist - NBSTSA
Must-Have : CVOR Experience - Cardiothoracic experience (CABG, Valve replacements, VATS, Robotic chest procedures)
Description :
Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique and maintains asepsis.
Anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed.
Actively participates in patient care and safety.
Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and works as a team member of the OR staff.
Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique.
Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively.
Assists the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments and other related items during procedures.
Anticipates the surgeon’s needs for instruments, sutures, and equipment.
Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping instruments clean and in their proper place.
Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count.
Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment according to preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems.
Cares appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case.
Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient by identifying potential hazards to the surgeon and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment.
Displays knowledge of potential hazards, including equipment, chemicals, or gases within the Operating Room.
Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource and acts as a resource for new OR personnel.
Assists in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon.
Handles and identifies specimens per policy.
Expedites the effective and efficient turnover of the OR between cases.
Takes rotating call duty.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested.
