The Concord Plaza Hotel is seeking a qualified candidate for the Director of Engineering position. You will be responsible for the overall maintenance of this 323-room full-service hotel. The Concord Plaza Hotel is currently under renovation and will soon become a Courtyard by Marriott and a Fairfield Inn by Marriott brand.
The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the Hotel's maintenance and team members.
Compensation :
$70,000 - $75,000 yearly
Responsibilities :
The Director of Engineering has the following responsibilities :
- Supervise the maintenance of the hotel so that there are no additional expenses or lost business resulting from deferred maintenance.
- Maintain departmental operating expenses within budget in dollars and percentages for each budget-line item.
- Review and be knowledgeable of the information contained in circulated management reports and financial statements.
- Implement and adhere to all Company purchasing procedures and controls.
- Protect the Company’s financial assets.
- Be knowledgeable about the safe use of tools, chemicals, supplies, and related materials. Use these materials safely and according to instructions.
- Use hotel supplies and materials efficiently.
- Promptly report to the general manager and correct maintenance deficiencies that may have a negative effect on guest comfort and / or operating expenses.
- Promptly report and correct risks to guest, visitor, and employee safety, security, and health to the general manager.
- Coordinate access to guestrooms and timelines of guestroom maintenance with the housekeeping and front office departments.
- Be knowledgeable of hotel features, amenities, and services.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
- Participate in job-oriented continuing education programs.
- Promote good relations with the hotel’s vendors, tenants, and neighbors.
- Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary Company information, including, but not limited to, hotel performance statistics, information about agreements with clients, information about prospective business, hotel financial information, and employee personal and salary information throughout and after employment by the hotel.
- Implement and monitor a formal, documented, ongoing preventive maintenance program for all the hotel’s major equipment and machinery.
- Implement and monitor a formal, documented ongoing maintenance program for all hotel guestrooms.
- Represent the hotel with enthusiasm, professionalism, and businesslike appearance and demeanor to all hotel guests, clients, prospective clients, and agents, and to the community.
- Continually communicate formally and informally with all employees, regarding the Company philosophy and policies.
- Comply with all laws and Company policies regarding fair employment practices.
- Provide guidance and feedback to subordinates to improve their work performance.
- Hire, discharge, promote, and transfer hotel employees within the Company guidelines.
- Hire employees who meet the Company standards and qualifications.
- Meet all Company standards for new-employee orientation and training and for ongoing training of existing employees. Provide employee training in workplace and customer safety, health, and security.
- Adhere to all laws and regulations regarding workplace safety and health. Educate employees on such laws and regulations and actively promote their adherence to those laws and regulations.
- Keep accurate records on equipment warranties and maintenance history.
- Use and assure others' use of tools and supplies safely and according to instructions.
- Assure tools, equipment, and supplies are not left unattended and unsecured.
- Complete other assignments and duties as directed by the management company.
Qualifications :
The Director of Engineering must meet the following requirements :
Education : Has a high-school degree with some college or equivalent formal education.Citizenship : Presents proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.Language Skills : Has good written and oral English language skills.Transportation : Holds a current, valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance. Maintains a safe driving record.Travel : Is available for local travel and outside of the local area.Equipment Skills : Can use personal computers with keyboard skills of at least 30 words per minute and is knowledgeable with computer accounting programs, word processing, and database management. Can use calculators, multi-button telephones, and general office equipment.Personal Skills and Characteristics : Has a high degree of organizational skills. Has a professional demeanor and is professionally attired. Have good work initiative, work habits, and flexibility.Work Experience : Has worked with the public and in a position with clerical and administrative responsibilities.Physical Requirements : Can safely lift 30 pounds. Able to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and squat for the purpose of filing and using under-counter storage. Is able to drive an automobile.Safety and Health Knowledge : Is knowledgeable on OSHA regulations, health department rules, fire department regulations, equal opportunity laws, accommodation laws, and the hotel's safety, security, and health policies as they apply to hotel operations and all aspects of hiring and managing employees, and accommodating hotel guests and visitors.ADA Knowledge : Is knowledgeable on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), its regulations, court interpretations, and related laws and regulations as they apply to hiring and managing employees and accommodating guests and visitors.Fair-Employment Practices Knowledge : Is knowledgeable on laws and regulations regarding equal-employment opportunity and employment of disabled persons.About Company
