Role Overview
This role will own IBM DB2 database administration supporting mission-critical business systems. The DBA will be responsible for database performance availability security backup / recovery and overall reliability.
The position partners closely with IT operations and reporting users to support SQL development reporting workloads integrations (API / EDI) and data workflows that support daily business operations.
Core Responsibilities
DB2 Platform Administration
- Install configure upgrade and patch IBM DB2 environments.
- Manage DB2 configuration settings impacting performance memory usage and concurrency.
- Troubleshoot DB2-related issues affecting applications and users.
- Execute routine maintenance upgrades and migrations.
Performance Reliability & Operations
Monitor database health capacity and storage growth.Optimize SQL performance through indexing strategies and query tuning.Own backup and restore processes; validate recovery and disaster readiness.Implement strategies to support reporting and analytics workloads without impacting production performance.Reporting & Data Access
Support internal reporting and analytics needs using SQL and reporting tools (e.g. Crystal Reports or similar).Partner with business users to translate reporting and data requirements into performant database solutions.Integrations & Interfaces
Support data flows for API and EDI integrations.Coordinate with application vendors and internal teams during incidents upgrades and troubleshooting.Security & Compliance
Manage database security roles permissions and access controls.Support audits and enforce least-privilege access standards.Required Qualifications
37 years of database administration experience with IBM DB2 (LUW and / or IBM i).Strong SQL expertise including query tuning indexing and troubleshooting.Experience supporting production business-critical systems with uptime and performance requirements.Comfortable working on-site and supporting scheduled maintenance or after-hours work as needed.Highly Preferred
Experience in enterprise or operations-heavy environments.Exposure to API EDI automation cybersecurity or enterprise reporting tools.Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally.What Success Looks Like
