Surgical Assistant - Surgical Assistant

Job Details:

• Work as a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Assistant, not a surgical technician
• Start times between 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM
• Handle approximately 10 cases per day
• Work in 1:1 patient ratio environment
• Participate in weekend on-call rotation once per month (Saturday/Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM, 24-hour call)
• End of shift call up to once per week with 30-minute response time
• Holiday expectations are on-call only, as needed
• Must adhere to fatigue policy - cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Minimum 2 years surgical assist experience required
• Not recommended for first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS, graduation from accredited school (required), CSFA (preferred)
• Strong CVOR background needed across all specialties with ability to work independently
• Experience required in CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, fem-pop bypass
• Must have experience in fast-paced environment
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Work with Alaris, Pyxis, and DaVinci XI equipment
• No floating required for surgical assistants
• 2 weeks of orientation provided
• Up to 7 days time off can be approved with additional time requiring approval
• Scrubs provided

This healthcare facility is a Level III Trauma Center with Magnet designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center recognition, featuring 938 total beds. The cardiovascular operating room department has 8 CVOR beds and specializes in cardiothoracic surgeries including heart transplants, robotic procedures, and complex cardiovascular interventions. The facility maintains high standards with 24/7 anesthesia support, department supervisors, and comprehensive support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
