We’re opening a modern Scandinavian-inspired candy shop featuring premium European pick-and-mix candy, house-made soft serve, and curated packaged goods - and we’re looking for an experienced, energetic, and organized Store Manager to lead the team.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, loves creating a welcoming guest experience, and can balance daily operations with staff leadership and high standards of cleanliness, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Oversee daily store opening / closing procedures
- Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising standards, and product presentation
- Ensure candy bins, soft-serve machines, and packaged products are always stocked and rotated correctly
- Coordinate minor prep tasks (soft-serve, toppings, cleaning schedules, labeling)
- Maintain compliance with NYC DOH standards and store safety procedures
Leadership & Team Management
Recruit, hire, train, and lead a team of 8–15 FOH staffCreate and manage weekly staff schedulesConduct ongoing training on customer service, POS, candy handling, and soft-serve proceduresProvide coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary follow-ups when neededCultivate a positive, team-focused, high-standards environmentGuest Experience
Lead by example through exceptional hospitalityResolve guest issues with professionalism and empathyMaintain product knowledge of all candy SKU types, soft-serve flavors, and packaged itemsTrain team on upselling, sampling, and guest engagement best practicesInventory, Ordering & Admin
Manage inventory counts and ordering for candy, dairy, packaging, and operational suppliesTrack sales, labor, waste, and COGS with ownership teamEnsure accuracy of POS items, pricing, discounts, and promotionsSubmit daily / weekly reports to ownersOversee cash handling and bank depositsSoft Serve & Equipment Oversight
Ensure correct daily cleaning and sanitizing of soft-serve machineTrain staff on pouring, serving, and machine careTroubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate service callsQualifications
2+ years of management experience in retail, hospitality, or specialty foodStrong leadership and communication skillsComfortable with hands-on work and leading by exampleSolid understanding of scheduling, inventory, waste control, and basic financialsExperience with Square POS (preferred)Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbsInterest in Scandinavian candy culture is a plus, but not requiredCompensation & Benefits
