JOB DESCRIPTION

• 6 Months, possibility to extend with the right approvals.
• End goal is contract to hire if budget allows
• Hybrid Flex schedule :
• First couple of weeks will be training (understand the environment, setup access and get up to speed) at a typical 40 hour week
• Then there will be a three week rotation schedule

o On call - one week in a rotation they will work 40 hours, but they will need to be on call 24 / 7 for that week including Sat / Sun. The other two weeks in that rotation will not require on call hours, but they will still work 40 hours.

o Roughly about 5 hours of on call a week unless it is super busy, but it all depends on any production failures.

Background

Job Summary

Provides advanced support to multiple application groups using various database technologies, but primarily responsible for the full lifecycle management of our on-premises Oracle databases and those migrating to the AWS cloud. Works on a day-to-day basis with developers and system administrators to design, configure, construct, deploy and support databases and data integration processing.

Essential Functions

On-premises Expertise :

Provides advanced support to multiple application groups using various database technologies, but primarily Oracle and SQL server databases.

Install, configure, and support Oracle databases deployed on UNIX / Solaris servers.

Upgrade existing 19c databases to the latest 23i release, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.

Perform ongoing administration tasks such as user and security management, schema management, and performance optimization.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, maintaining data integrity and system stability.

Implement and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and 3rd party tools like Cohesity.

Troubleshoot database-related issues across all environments.

Work closely with solution architects, product engineers and other teams.

Cloud Migration and Management :

Design, build, and support RDS instances in the AWS cloud using Terraform infrastructure as code.

Migrate on-premises SQL Server databases to the AWS cloud, prioritizing efficient data transfer and minimal disruption.

Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of RDS instances
