Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,101 per week in Renton, WA

Description : Registered Nurses will be working in a medical surgical float capacity. The unit has 38 beds, capable of accommodating up to 42 with semi-private rooms. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1 : 4-5 on both days and nights. Required certifications include Basic Life Support and NIH Stroke Scale. Common diagnoses include a variety of general surgery patients. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Common drips on the unit include Heparin per protocol. Charge Nurse or House Supervisor will oversee staffing needs. Patient Care Assistants are present on this unit. Ratios for PCAs are 1 : 8-15, depending on staffing. All PCAs are trained to perform phlebotomy. Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP and nasal cannula. Telemonitoring is available with the assistance of monitor technicians. RNs are not required to read strips but should be able to recognize lethal rhythms and respond appropriately. Shifts are scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM for both AM and PM shifts. Travelers will be expected to fill scheduling gaps. Every other weekend availability is required. There is no holiday requirement. There is no on-call or standby requirement, although travelers may be placed on standby. Travelers may float to other surgical units or medical surgical units as needed. Team nursing may be required in specific circumstances. Travelers may also be floated to the emergency department for holds as necessary. On average, the emergency department houses 20-30 medical surgical patients daily. The dress code is royal blue. Cancellation policy allows for one shift per two-week period. The charting system used is EpicCare Inpatient EMR.
