Job Title: Civil Construction Estimator (Earthwork Specialist)

Location: Carlstadt, NJ

Our client, a well-established civil construction company, is seeking a highly skilled Civil Construction Estimator with a strong background in civil engineering and expertise in earthwork. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in estimating for civil construction projects and a keen ability to assess project requirements, analyze plans, and prepare accurate cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for earthwork and related civil construction projects.

• Conduct site visits as necessary to evaluate conditions and identify potential project challenges.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgetary constraints.
• Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals, conducting bid comparisons and negotiations as needed.
• Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including take-offs, scope definitions, and pricing summaries.
• Stay updated on industry trends, labor costs, material prices, and local regulations that could impact estimates.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, presenting estimates and addressing client or team inquiries.
• Support the development of value engineering options and alternatives to optimize project costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Civil Construction Estimator, with a specialization in earthwork.
• In-depth knowledge of earthwork processes, including grading, excavation, site preparation, and utility installation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and safety standards applicable in New Jersey.

Location

The position is based in Carlstadt, NJ, with occasional travel to project sites in the region.
