Full-Time Medical Assistant Surgical Specialties Clinic Location: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week) Status: Full-time; eligible for benefits and sign-on bonus The Surgical Specialties Clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to provide exceptional clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with providers and nursing staff to ensure efficient patient flow, assist with exams and procedures, and help maintain a welcoming, professional atmosphere for all patients and visitors.

Performs a wide variety of medical assisting activities and assists providers with special procedures during patient visits in an office-based clinical setting. At BIDMC, a Medical Assistant in a hospital-based practice is not authorized to perform duties that can be performed only by licensed personnel, which includes but is not limited to, drawing up medications and/or medication administration or flushing an IV.
High School diploma or GED required. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications. MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, such as: experience working as a medical assistant (MA), a patient care technician (PCT) or a clinical nursing assistant (CNA); nursing or medical student with completion of one clinical rotation.

Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.
Pay Range: $21.00 - $28.26 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
