Job Responsibilities

Reviews, inspects, and recommends for approval moderate level encroachment permits. Assists other staff members in the review and recommendation for approval of complex encroachment permits. Conducts field inspections on contracts and/or permits to include areas such as traffic control, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, environmental, and safety practices. Performs routine inspections of roadways to include low/high shoulders, pavement markings, signs potholes, ditches and other roadway defects. Assists in emergency operations and being on-call for after hour emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.

A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
