Job Summary and Responsibilities

Responsible for initial decontamination of instruments post surgical procedure inspection and maintenance of instrumentation packaging for appropriate sterilization process supervision and/or completion of cold disinfecting process.

• Facilitates instrument purchase under direction of the specialty coordinators.
• Rotation of sterile instruments in designated storage areas to assure presentation and maximum utilization of items within appropriate shelf life and sterilization date period.
• Communicating need for upgrading or replacement of instrumentation.
• Transport of patients delivery of surgical specimens with necessary documentation.
• Share in responsibility for cleaning documentation and participation in maintenance and spore testing of unit sterilizers and washer sterilizers.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience as an Instrument Technician or Central Service Technician or relevant instrument processing experience
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of equipment used in the department
• Certification with Sterile Processing preferred
