As part of the Governments reset of the science innovation and technology system on 1 July 2025 AgResearch Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research Plant & Food Research and Scion merged to form the New Zealand Institute for Bioeconomy Science trading as the Bioeconomy Science Institute.

We are seeking a Product Owner Digital Science Products to lead the development and optimisation of digital products that deliver science-based services to the agriculture industry. This role is pivotal in ensuring our digital offerings are impactful customer-focused and commercially viable.

Ngā kawenga What youll be doing

You will work closely with scientists commercial teams and external stakeholders to shape product strategy manage the product lifecycle and ensure delivery aligns with both research goals and market needs. This is a unique opportunity to bridge science and technology and to help translate complex research into practical scalable digital solutions.

Ōpūmanawa About you

Youre a strategic thinker with a passion for turning science into real-world digital solutions. With a strong background in product ownership or management you thrive in agile environments and are confident translating complex scientific or technical concepts into clear actionable plans.

Youll bring :

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner Product Manager or similar role ideally with 5 years in a relationship-based or stakeholder-facing position.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and user-centred design principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work across science commercial and technical teams.
  • A knack for translating complexity turning research outputs and customer needs into intuitive digital products.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking with a focus on delivering value and impact.

    • Bonus points if you also bring :

  • Experience in the agriculture environmental science or research sectors.
  • Familiarity with privacy legislation open-data principles and government reporting standards.
  • A background in business development commercialisation or working with industry partners.
