Job Details

Responsibilities :

As a Criminal Defense Attorney in our firm, you will be responsible for :

1. Representing clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges in state and federal courts in Colorado.

2. Conducting thorough legal research to support defense strategies and preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.

3. Negotiating plea agreements with prosecutors and working towards the best possible outcome for our clients.

4. Preparing for and attending court proceedings, including arraignments, pretrial hearings, trial proceedings, and sentencing hearings.

5. Conducting depositions of witnesses and experts, and gathering evidence to support our clients' defense.

6. Providing mediation services to resolve disputes and avoid trial when possible.

7. Managing case files and maintaining regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of the progress of their cases.

8. Utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate complex legal issues and challenges.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate for the Criminal Defense Attorney position should possess the following qualifications :

1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

2. Active license to practice law in the State of Colorado.

3. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a trial attorney, specifically in criminal defense.

4. Proficient in legal research and writing, with a strong understanding of criminal law and court procedures.

5. Demonstrated experience in managing a large caseload and effectively negotiating plea agreements.

6. Proven trial experience, with the ability to think critically and solve problems under pressure.

7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual candidates are highly preferred.

8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, prosecutors, and court personnel.

9. Superior organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
