ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a premier supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, is urgently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to enhance operations at our Rappahannock Farms Quarry location in King George, VA. In this pivotal role, you will adeptly operate and optimize various equipment, ensuring operational efficiency, rigorous maintenance, and timely quality assessments.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Operate heavy machinery, including skid steers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes, to effectively load and move materials such as sand, gravel, and aggregates.
- Maintain equipment through routine checks, cleaning, lubrication, and ensure machines are in optimal working condition.
- Transport materials to various locations within the quarry, including stockpiles and processing areas.
- Perform general labor tasks, including lifting, loading, unloading, and clearing debris from work sites as needed.
- Monitor and ensure safe material handling practices, adhering to protocols for transporting materials.
- Assist with site preparation for construction projects by grading, leveling, and clearing land for various operations.
- Follow strict safety guidelines and collaborate with team members to comply with safety regulations, including MSHA standards.
- Conduct basic maintenance on equipment and promptly report any issues or malfunctions to supervisors.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of equipment, ensuring tools and machinery are ready for the next shift.
- Contribute to site cleanliness and organization, maintaining a safe environment at all times.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education : High school diploma or equivalentRequired Work Experience : Proven experience operating heavy equipment, such as skid steers and loaders.Travel Requirements : 25%-50% of the timeBasic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and routine maintenance of equipment.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Strong safety awareness and compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations.Ability to pass a 7-year criminal background check and DOT physical / drug screen.Good physical fitness for manual labor, including lifting and various physical tasks.Basic understanding of quarry operations and materials handling.Ability to work independently and in teams, following directions and collaborating effectively.Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.Additional Requirements :
