About the Role :

Field Medical is seeking an experienced Senior Patent Agent to consult for our team on a part-time contract. This role is critical to building and protecting our intellectual property portfolio in the rapidly evolving field of cardiac therapeutics. You'll work closely with our engineering and clinical team, senior leadership, and outside patent counsel to develop comprehensive IP protection strategies and prepare high-quality patent applications that safeguard our breakthrough innovations.

Your Responsibilities Will Include :

• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify patentable inventions, conduct regular invention disclosure sessions, and implement strategic IP protection plans
• Work directly with engineers, researchers, and technical leadership to extract detailed technical information and translate innovations into strong patent applications
• Prepare and draft patent applications; manage prosecution strategy with outside patent counsel
• Coordinate with outside patent counsel to ensure timely, high-quality patent filings and responses to office actions
• Analyze third-party patent positions, and assess potential IP risks and opportunities
• Perform comprehensive patent searches, monitor competitive IP landscape, and provide strategic guidance based on emerging trends
• Identify and evaluate complex IP risks including patentability, infringement, and validity issues; develop business-oriented mitigation strategies
