Heavy Equipment Operator

Shift / Hours :  Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM

Pay Rate :  $33-36 / hour, Depending on Experience

Location :  Denver, CO 80207

Experience :   Minimum 1 year experience operating heavy equipment.

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery used in earthmoving and construction projects.  Key duties include performing pre-operation checks, conducting minor maintenance, coordinating with the crew, and ensuring adherence to site plans and safety protocols.

Heavy Equipment Operator Responsibilities :

  • Operate excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, skid steers, and other machinery to dig, move, and grade earth.
  • Adjust equipment attachments as needed for different tasks (e.g., buckets, hammers, rippers).
  • Follow site plans and instructions to excavate areas for foundations, utilities, roadways, and drainage.
  • Ensure work is completed to specified grades, depths, and slopes.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections of machinery to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Adhere to OSHA and company safety standards, including use of PPE and awareness of underground utilities.
  • Work closely with foremen, engineers, and other crew members to coordinate tasks.
  • Use hand signals, radios, or other communication methods to ensure precise operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report issues to mechanics or supervisors.
  • Keep records of hours operated and any incidents or hazards encountered.
  • Minimize impact to surrounding terrain, structures, and natural features.
  • Properly manage runoff and erosion control measures when required.

    • Heavy Equipment Operator Requirements :

  • Experience in operating heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers.
  • Knowledge of digging, trenching, grading, and site preparation techniques.
  • Ability to perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Understanding and adherence to safety standards and protocols.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training,  and CDL is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • English / Spanish bilingual a plus.
  • OSHA 10
