Job Title : G&P Admissions Evaluation Specialist 2
Department : Strategic Enrollment | Graduate and Professional Admissions
Reporting to the Graduate and Professional Admissions Evaluation Manager, the Graduate and Professional (GP) Admissions Evaluation Specialist 2 serves as a lead credentials evaluator. The GP Admissions Evaluation Specialist 2 is responsible for the expert evaluation of applicant credentials, assists the manager of the evaluation area in providing coordination and training for the evaluation team, and ensures the integrity of all admissions processes. This position requires application of advanced expertise in university credentials, global educational systems, professional programs, comprehensive knowledge of university policies, and the ability to serve as a critical liaison to programs for an applicant pool exceeding 32,000. Serves as an subject matter expert for the evaluation of domestic and international academic records to determine compliance with minimum Graduate School criteria and to assesses professional applicants' prerequisite preparation for admission to a graduate or professional program at The Ohio State University. Applies industry knowledge, specialized judgment and professional expertise to confirm complex course equivalencies, directly influencing candidate admissibility. Performs essential document integrity checks, including the authentication of all academic transcripts to uphold the integrity of the admissions process. Calculates and documents all required GPAs (overall and institution-specific).Maintains authoritative knowledge of The Ohio State University's extensive policies, procedures, program requirements, and academic unit prerequisites.
In the absence of the manager and in support of the team operation, coordinate work queues to support evaluation workflows. Assign evaluations to other evaluators. Manage provisions for select applicants by applying university rules and making judgments about application completion. Assists the manager in coordinating evaluation processing, training, and professional development for the evaluation staff particularly in the area of Professional Admissions. Coordinates and executes staff training, including the identification of training needs and the design and development of training tools and job aids. Performs essential quality control functions over credential evaluations, ensuring accuracy and mitigating institutional risk. Ensures credentials evaluations are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Reviews and provides suggestions to management for possible process efficiencies and actively promotes a collaborative, team-based environment. Contributes to the annual update and review of area documentation, including the design and development of critical procedural documentation. Maintains continuity of operations by cross-training across all functions within Graduate and Professional Admissions. Manages high-level inquiries and resolves escalated procedural questions from academic departments, outreach / student services, and applicants. Ensures credentials evaluations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Interprets and applies specialized resources to accurately evaluate academic calendars, grading systems, transfer credit, and degree requirements. Updates prerequisite completion status and inputs calculated GPAs within the Student Information System (SIS). Performs advanced interpretation of prerequisites when no transfer credit equivalent exists. Advises prospective applicants on appropriate coursework to satisfy prerequisite mandates and confirms prerequisite completion in the academic record. Coordinates responses from others and resolves high-level inquiries and resolves escalated procedural questions from academic departments, outreach / student services, and applicants. Ensures credentials evaluations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Serves as a liaison to professional programs. Updates resources used to evaluate professional applications. Leads the Professional Schools Recruitment Committee. Serves on departmental and campus committees, assists with professional recruitment activities.
Performs special projects and programs as assigned. Provides suggestions to manager of possible efficiencies. Distributes work and makes critical decisions for evaluations team in the absence of the Manager of the Evaluation team.
Education / Experience
Required : Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant professional experience. Experiences with desktop technologies. Attention to detail. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Desired : 2-4 years of relevant professional experience. Understanding of evaluation and interpretation of international and domestic educational credentials and professional program prerequisites. Flexibility to work schedule during peak season; November - February. Experience in Graduate and Professional Admissions strongly desired.

Salary range for this position : Minimum $20.24 / hour – Mid - $26.44 / hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, units' available budget, and the candidates' qualifications.
