JOB SUMMARY :
Under the guidance of the VP of Human Resources & EHS, will oversee Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and compliance for assigned Stolle location / s to ensure regulatory compliance and controls in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations. Plans and coordinates health programs requiring an application of engineering, mechanical, and chemical principles and technologies in order to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases. Recommend resolutions, monitors processes, conducts training activities and coordinates with consultants and service providers as needed. Assists EHS Manager with providing expertise and oversight of the safety and risk management functions for location / s.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include :
- Serve as a consultant advocating for the continuous improvement of EHS processes, procedures and programs; effectively communicate challenges, successes, and areas of concern with management when potential hazards and risks are identified.
- Serve as technical expert to advise safety committee, supervisors and management on the best methods to resolve all EHS concerns and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issues.
- Evaluate and analyze trends and barriers to performance of safe work and identify root causes of accidents. Develop actions plans to control or eliminate organizational barriers and / or hazards in the workplace.
- Conduct workplace audits and inspections to identify and alleviate environmental factors and stresses affecting the health and safety of employees; recommend equipment procedures, assignments, or other actions to alleviate identified problems or concerns.
- Interpret new regulations, determine their applicability to organization procedures and standards and devise strategies and procedures for compliance.
- Implement environmental workplace monitoring; assist the Human Resources Department in overseeing and administering pre and post-employment testing and monitoring programs including drug and DOT (if applicable) drug testing, fitness for duty, DMV screening and monitoring, and related testing and notification programs. Oversee investigations of workplace accidents; review and evaluate reports, noting hazards and violations, and prescribe corrective action.
- Assist Senior EHS Specialist updating OSHA 300 Log.
- Maintain Stolle MSDS lists. Evaluate new chemicals as they are introduced for health risks and necessary precautions related to PPE, certifications, etc. Serve as point of contact for any MSDS inquiries.
- Conduct all new hire and follow-up safety training for assigned location / s.
- Evaluate training needs and schedule specialty or management safety training needs for all locations.
- Communicate policy information to existing employees and new hires.
- Engage with employees while walking the floor on a daily basis.
- Recommend solutions and options to address gaps in EHS.
Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience :
Education
EHS Management Certification and / or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene preferred; CSP certificate preferred. OSHA and other safety training a plus.
Experience
5 + years prior experience in design, implementation and management of EHS programs in a manufacturing environment. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft products and internet.
Ability to travel up to 20%; strong training and coaching skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft products including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams.
Other
Strong training and coaching skills; excellent interpersonal skills; high level of motivation; and self-starter; ASSP is a plus.
Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and / or weekends.
