OverviewThe Institute for the Creative Arts is the first Performing & Visual Arts High School in Arkansas. As a charter the school is funded by the state. Our mission is : Empowering students through an intensive arts and academic curriculum that prepares them for higher education creative careers and to become future leaders in the performing and visual arts Institute opened in August of 2024 in the new Arkansas Center for the Creative Arts a 40000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility located on a stunning 10-acre campus on Fort Smiths beautiful Riverfront Drive. Students in grades 9-12 participate daily in a specific arts program. ICA is seeking an experienced and outstanding counselor who has a passion for working with high school students and the ability to collaborate with instructors in both arts and academics to help each student achieve their high school goals. This individual will provide assistance and guidance in developing individual student success plans for each student. He / She will work collaboratively with the arts instructors and directors to ensure that each students plan is designed for the primary arts area of choice and that capstone projects are prepared with career readiness in mind. The counselor will also work with core academic instructors to ensure high-level student success in each core area. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in high school and experience working with public school officials and parents. This individual will play a vital role in promoting an immersive arts experience and collaboration among faculty and students to build an environment where students thrive and explore their creativity and talents to the fullest. The candidate will report directly to the President and secondarily to the Dean . RESPONSIBILITIESAdvises and counsels students regarding academic educational and short-term social and emotional universally accessible and makes an effort to know every student for whom they are individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding academic facilitates and maintains communication with parents teachers administrators and pertinent agents on specific student and parent academic and educational matters including academic modifications and / or feedback and recommends appropriate action and solutions to individual students academic and educational needs and on a Student Success Team identifies students who may need targeted or intensive services and coordinates with behavioral health students / parents in understanding school policies and brief counseling to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers students to behavioral health coordinates and collaborates with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student and attends appropriate student activities and duties as assigned by Head of resume unofficial transcripts copy of teachers license and contact info for three references to : Dr. Rosilee Russell
