Avionics Technician Team Supervisor

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As the supervisor of a hardworking and accomplished team of avionics technicians, you will be responsible for leading the New Glenn Avionics Technician Team to directly support New Glenn avionics hardware development (box, board and harness design and test) with product assembly, test, debug, rework and release of related documentation. You will help set technician team technical direction and drive team to successfully execute to program goals. You will build technician team to support current and future program needs (this includes hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development). You will capture, champion and improve avionics technician team technical processes, best practices, and tool development. In this customer-focused management role, you will work to support electrical, mechanical, software, systems, and test engineers with the electronics equipment, instrumentation, tools, materials, and availability they require to develop (design and verify) New Glenn avionics products.

Responsibilities
Supervise avionics technicians in day-to-day operations and conduct their annual performance reviews
Manage and develop avionics technician resourcing and capacity (including corporate and technical training, HR actions, accurate timecards, PTO requests, hiring, etc)
Lead, mentor and develop avionics technician team to ensure successful use of lab resources and capacity to deliver to customer demand
Ensure technician team is trained and executing for compliance with lab programs : safety, 5S, lean manufacturing, Kaizen and other standard practices
Ensure technician team is trained and executing to deliver to customer expectations : work orders, quality and other related practices
Manage and communicate technician schedule status to ensure meeting customer expectations
Capture, implement and update lab policies, processes, and procedures to drive continuous improvement
Collaborate with avionics flight and development lab leadership to enable avionics product development (assembly, integration, test and rework)
Collaborate with avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership and product Responsible Engineers (REs) with avionics product development
Support New Glenn Avionics leadership with budget, facilities, resource and staffing actions
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a technical lead or supervisor of an electronics team of technicians
10+ years of experience working with avionics or electronics in a lab or prototyping environment
Experience with rapid development techniques for electronic hardware (box, board and harness)
Experience with hardware (acceptance and qualification) environmental test processes and equipment
Current (or prior) IPC or similar certification for PCBA and harness assembly, rework and test
Demonstrated expertise in the use of precision electronic instrumentation and tools to test and
