Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Department of a Level III Trauma Center with 46 beds, including 5 safe psych rooms and a fast track areaPatient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics, with trauma, STEMI, sepsis, stroke, DKA, mental health, and high acuity medical casesAverage of 200 patients per day with a higher geriatric populationDaytime patient ratios are typically 1 : 4 to 1 : 5, flexing based on acuity and staffingSmall amount of pediatric patients, with most pediatric transfers handled externallyShift times include 12-hour mid and night shifts, typically scheduled in weekly blocksNo floating to other units requiredUses Epic charting system, Alaris, Pyxis, and central / bedside telemetry monitoringWork in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and traveler-friendly environmentExtensive support on unit including ER techs, charge nurse, resource / float nurse, RT, ED educator, security, house supervisor, social work, and 24 / 7 pharmacyOrientation includes NEO, Epic training if needed, time in mental health area, and preceptor shiftHoliday coverage requires working 2 out of 5 major holidaysProfessional attire required with any scrub color allowedFirst-time travelers are welcomeFree parking is available in designated areasRequirements
Active WA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experienceCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI / MOABGeneral ED skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, ED drips, and medication administrationExperience with procedural sedation, blood administration, TNK administration (preferred), and cardiac medicationsTelemetry competency must be completed and passed prior to startBenefits
