About the Role
The Managing Director of Marketing and Communications reports to Chief Strategy & Advancement Officer and servesas KID Museums senior leader responsible for the strategic vision, direction, and ownership of the organizations marketing and communications function. This role contributes to organization-wide goal setting, drives brand strategy, and ensures that KID Museums visibility, messaging, and reputation advance its mission and strategic priorities.
This leader will oversee an integrated marketing operation, combining strategic planning with high-level oversight of execution. They manage and mentor a team, guide cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure that all communications channels consistently reinforce KIDs value, impact, and identity.
The ideal candidate is an experienced senior marketing and communications professional with a strong record of developing high-performing teams, shaping organization-wide strategy, and delivering measurable results in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment. They bring exceptional writing and editorial judgment, strategic insight, and the ability to influence and align stakeholders across the organization.

Compensation and Location The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000 (commensurate with experience) and it is offered along with a competitive benefits package. The position is based in Bethesda, MD.
