Location : Baltimore MD 21201

Duration : 6 months

Note : Hybrid Location (2days onsite and 3 days remote)

Background and Purpose

• The Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP) at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is seeking a Temporary Database Administrator to support the Maryland Direct Certification System (MDCS).
• MDCS is currently in an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) status and is generally stable; however the Department requires an experienced database professional who can ensure system continuity and respond rapidly in the event of system degradation database failure or critical performance issues.
• This is a hybrid position and the individual is expected to work up to 30 hours per week.

Required Skills :

A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology Computer Science Database Administration Management Information Systems or a related field. 5 years of hands-on experience administering production relational databases (e.g. MySQL SQL Server PostgreSQL or Oracle). Experience performing backup restoration disaster recovery query optimization and performance tuning in a production environment. Experience monitoring database health and diagnosing system failures or bottlenecks. Ability to write review and optimize SQL queries stored procedures views and functions. Experience supporting applications in an O&M environment. It is preferred that the person has experience with government systems or MDCS-like eligibility platforms

Required Education :

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering
