The Mount Vernon Club—Baltimore’s most elegant private city club—is seeking an experienced and service-driven Food & Beverage Manager to join our small and dynamic leadership team. This is a #2 management position , offering the rare combination of professional challenge and balanced lifestyle.

Housed in a grand 19th-century Georgian mansion in the heart of the Mount Vernon Cultural District, the Club is an oasis of refinement and camaraderie. Founded in 1928, our Club prides itself on white-tablecloth hospitality, warm and personal service, and a deeply rooted tradition of excellence.

About the Role

As Food & Beverage Manager, you’ll oversee all dining room and bar operations , ensuring consistently high standards of service, presentation, and atmosphere. You’ll be the guiding force for our service and bar team, bringing professionalism, training, and inspiration to each shift. Working closely with the Executive Chef and Member Services Coordinator, you’ll help orchestrate unforgettable member experiences—from intimate lunches to curated wine dinners and vibrant Club soirées.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and inspire the Club’s service and bar staff

Maintain and elevate our warm, impeccable, white-tablecloth service

Design and manage an appealing, profitable wine and cocktail program

Partner with the Chef and Coordinator to execute seamless private events and Club functions

Oversee dining room setup, cleanliness, and daily readiness

Uphold safety, sanitation, and organizational standards

Manage scheduling, inventory, and departmental budgeting

Qualifications

A natural host with a creative, gracious, and guest-first mindset

Fine dining and / or private club management experience strongly preferred

Hands-on leadership and mentoring style

Proficiency with office tools, POS systems, and basic menu design

Highly organized with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Proven ability to build relationships with members and staff alike

A self-starter ready to take ownership and pride in operations

Schedule & Lifestyle Perks

Weekly Operations :

Lunch : Tuesday–Friday

Dinner : Thursday–Saturday (reservations only; rarely open past 10 : 00 PM)

Club Closures :

July & August, and the week between Christmas and New Year’s

Events :

Approximately 10 monthly in-house events (lectures, music, wine tastings, member socials)

Frequent catered events such as weddings, showers, and private dinners
