West Point Contractors currently has an immediate need for a Superintendent / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) responsible for providing on-site functional supervision of our FAA underground utility and paving project in Palmdale, CA . The ideal candidate will have experience with federal government projects and will ensure the project is constructed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications, while maintaining effective communication and coordination across all project teams.

Superintendent / SSHO Responsibilities
Supervise functional construction efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedulePlan, coordinate, supervise, and manage resources to meet project objectivesSupervise and direct field supervisors and subcontractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performanceAssist project team in scheduling, developing, and implementing project procedures, working documents, and standardsInterface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, and achieve schedulesReview shop drawings and prepare submittals for conformance with project specifications; maintain accurate submittal register for each task orderCoordinate, supervise, and manage on-site trades personnel and subcontractor workEnsure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate safety initiativesMaintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsExperience working on federal projects requiredMust be able to obtain access to Federal InstallationsEducation
High school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.Work Experience
3+ years in construction management and / or craft supervision (e.g., Foreman) in similar construction fields3+ years quality assurance and quality control experience in the fieldExperience in federal or public works projects - particularly FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or U.S. Army Corps of EngineersExperience with paving, asphalt, utilities, airfield facilities, or control tower-related infrastructure preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of construction methods, equipment, materials, company policies, procedures, and union agreementsExperience managing projects rangin g from $5M–$12M i n a firm fixed-price environmentOSHA 30-hour certification requiredCurrent CPR / First Aid certificationUSACE EM-385 Certified requiredExcellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skillsProven time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work on multiple projectsFlexible, self-motivated, and professionalMeticulous with timely reports and meeting submission deadlinesExperience using BuilderTrend software or similar construction management softwareAdditional Information
Job Type : Full-timeSalary : $115,000–$175,000 , depending on experiencePreference given to candidates residing in a HUBZone-designated areaWhen applying, include a detailed listing of major federal projects-contractor, agency, contract amount, and work summaryThis is not a remote position; relocation assistance not anticipated.Successful candidates must be able to obtain clearance to Federal project sites. This includes, but is not limited to : Department of Defense (Air Force, Navy, Army), Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Veteran Affairs, United States Army Corp. of Engineers, Mission & Installation Contracting Command, Federal Bureau of Prisons. These clearances include entry level background checks can also include, fingerprinting, proof of citizenship, declaration for federal employment, tuberculosis testing, and credit checks. It is the responsibility of the employee to maintain the ability to obtain installation access, it is a condition of the position.
