Responsibilities :
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including general ledger reconciliations, variance analysis, and the preparation of financial statements.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, cash flow management, and inventory costing for farming activities such as planting, harvesting, and equipment usage.
- Support annual audits and tax compliance efforts, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and industry practices.
- Perform cost accounting tasks and maintain financial systems to ensure accurate and efficient data management.
- Collaborate with field operations teams to analyze farm-specific metrics like yield and commodity pricing.
- Supervise accounting staff and provide leadership in financial operations and reporting.
- Assist in creating and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans.
- Ensure adherence to agricultural tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Evaluate financial performance and suggest improvements to optimize operational efficiency.
- Adapt to seasonal demands and provide financial insights tailored to the unique needs of the agriculture sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Agribusiness, or a related field; certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a background in agriculture, farming, or food production being ideal.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel and enterprise resource planning systems.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate farm-specific metrics and financial performance.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience supervising accounting staff and collaborating across teams.
- Ability to adapt to seasonal fluctuations and demands within an agricultural environment.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
