Description :

Hulcher Services is in search of a highly motivated and driven Heavy Equipment Apprentice Operator. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for safely transporting, operating, and servicing heavy equipment that is essential for clearing railroad derailments by lifting and moving derailed railway cars and locomotives.

What You'll Do :

  • Operate tractor-trailer or escort vehicles.
  • Handle heavy materials including steel chains, blocks, steel cables, and other equipment.
  • Engage in climbing and crawling on and under derailed railroad cars.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment using both small and large tools, including cutting torch and welding equipment.
  • Engage in digging, hammering, and other physical labor with a variety of tools.
  • Lift up to 100 lbs, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Work at heights exceeding 25 feet, which may include bridges or over water bodies.

    Requirements :

  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Willingness to be on-call 24 / 7, 365 days a year in emergency response situations.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Skills to conduct maintenance inspections on equipment.

    • Work Schedule :

  • Monday through Sunday on the job or at the division as needed.
  • On-call for 24 hours for derailments requiring immediate action.
  • 8-hour shifts from Monday through Friday; on-call during other hours for emergency responses.
  • The Response Team must be available at all times.

    • Salary : $26.84 per hour
