Dairy Product Development Specialist
ABS Global, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Dairy Product Development Specialist to join our growing Dairy Product Development team. This role has primary accountability for leveraging genetic and phenotypic data to help shape future dairy breeding strategies and drive meaningful economic improvement for customers.
The successful candidate will bring a passion for the dairy industry, a strong interest in data-driven decision making, and a desire to work with innovative technologies that are redefining animal breeding. You'll collaborate with a highly skilled, forward-thinking team focused on translating complex data into strategic, actionable insights that impact the global dairy industry.
The position is based in the general Madison, WI area and is physically located in DeForest, WI.
You Will
Collection, loading, and tracking of quality monthly farm data into ABS's Real World Database (RWD)
Recruitment and maintenance of RWD data including set-up of new herds, monitoring of on-farm software program changes, and database maintenance
Providing support and resources on the RWD database including providing statistics on herd demographics and quality of on-farm data recording
Providing support and resources for validation and incorporation of new farm software into RWD
Identify areas for and help implement improvements to overall data workflow process
Collaboration with dairy genetic research team in trait definition and development of proprietary genetic evaluations
Provide support and training to others within company on dairy data and major dairy herd management software
Data analysis and report development
Requirements
Bachelors or Master's degree in Animal or Dairy Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
Have a bias towards curiosity and extraction of actionable intelligence from data
Experience with dairy farm software such as but not limited to DairyComp 305, PCDART, DHIPlus, BoviSync, DelPro, or Lely preferred.
Strong willingness to learn programming languages or data analytic programs : such as R, SQL, SAS, Microsoft Access, and Power BI; knowledge of such programs are a benefit
Preference given to candidates with Dairy Industry experience
Dairy Challenge experience preferred
Fluent in English
