Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 2 years of recent perioperative experience and an active IN or Compact license.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in the Operating Room of a hospital setting
  • Unit has 24 beds with an average patient census of 70-80
  • Cases include General, Ortho, Robotics, GYN, Thoracic, ENT, Oral, Urology, Whipple, Plastics (free flap), and Liver resection
  • Requires circulating experience and exposure to advanced procedures
  • DaVinci XI University robotic surgery equipment is used
  • Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience required
  • Day shift schedule : 4x10s (7 : 00am-5 : 30pm), Monday-Friday with rotating day off
  • 40-60 hours of call required within each 6-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage is required; must work at least 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Floating to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals may be required
  • Responsibilities include circulating for a variety of advanced surgical cases and working collaboratively with the surgical team
  • Will be part of a multidisciplinary perioperative team
  • Must participate in call rotation and cover major holidays as scheduled
  • Standard hospital scrubs required
  • Auto-approval of up to 5 days of requested time off is allowed
  • All new hires will undergo orientation and training on hospital policies and procedures

    • Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license in hand or fingerprint application submitted before start
  • Current BCLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Graduation from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • At least 2 years of recent OR experience, with circulated cases relevant to the listed specialties within the past 3 years
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Prior Cerner charting experience
  • 18 months–2 years minimum perioperative RN experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted for perioperative positions
  • Permanent or PRN employees of IU must be separated from employment for at least 12 months to be considered
